St Andrews Golf Packages
Demand to play on the Old Course, St Andrews is high all year round with thousands of visitors all desperate for a chance to experience the challenge of the Old Course.
For any visitors who wish to play on the Old Course at St Andrews the first thing that they should note is the handicap requirements. In order to be allowed on the Old Course there is a handicap requirement of 24 for men and 36 ladies. A valid certificate or handicap card must be presented to the Official Starter before play begins. Visitors should also note that the Old Course is closed Sundays.
There are two ways of obtaining a tee time on the Old Course. You can either enter the Old Course Ballot or book an official St Andrews Golf Package that will include hotel accommodation of rounds of golf on various other golf courses in the area.
The Old Course Ballot
Each year, around 50% of all Old Course Tee Times are put into the daily ballot (lottery) which is drawn every day for next day's play. The only exception is Sunday when the course is closed. Player must enter the Ballot on Saturday if they wish to play the Old Course on Monday.
Success in the ballot is not guaranteed and chances vary according to the time of year, how busy the course is and the weather. A minimum two golfers can enter the ballot by applying either over the telephone or apply in person at the golf course before 2pm on the day before play. The result of the Ballot is shown by 4pm on the website, at the clubhouses, the starters' boxes, in the caddie pavilion and in other local golf clubs.
St Andrews Golf Packages
By booking a St Andrews Golf Package guests are guaranteed tee times on the Old Course. The official St Andrews Golf Packages are the only way to ensure that you will have the opportunity to play on the Old Course.
St Andrews Golf Packages vary from between 2 night - 7 night packages, include 3*, 4* or 5* Hotel Accommodation and will also include tee times on many of the other famous golf courses in and around St Andrews.
Depending upon the standard of hotel accommodation that you require and the length of time that you would like to spend in St Andrews, packages start from approximately £900 per golfer and will include hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, all golf including Guaranteed Tee Times on the Old Course and caddies as well as all transfers.
